What we believe

The best book you read last year almost certainly came from a person, not a chart. A friend pressed it into your hands, or someone whose taste you'd learned to trust wrote three honest lines about it. Recommendation engines have spent twenty years trying to replace that moment and have mostly produced more of what you already bought.

We think the better path is to make the human version work at the scale of a bookshop: to carry the judgement of the readers you follow into the room with you, so that standing in front of a shelf you already know which spines are worth pulling.

How we work

We are a small company and intend to stay deliberate. We don't sell advertising, we don't sell data, and we don't build features whose purpose is to keep you in the app. Rex is meant to be opened in front of a shelf and closed with a book in hand.

Your camera is read on your phone. Your shelves are yours to keep or delete. Our privacy policy says exactly what we hold and why, in plain words.
